The days are now shorter & the weather is even colder. There is still plenty to do down on the allotment, its that time of year to carry out those little jobs that are difficult to complete when the growing season is in full swing

Here is a checklist that might help you over the winter period.

Clean & disinfect greenhouse, pots & seed trays, any repairs to your structures. keep turning over your compost, winter dig, lime your plot, keep things tidy to prevent homes for winter pests, pruning, cover winter vegetables, store leaves for next years mulch, put weed suppressant ground cover down on the land.

Those cosy nights at home plan your allotment for next years growing season, and sort out your seeds & what you want to grow.

Apologies, I had to go home from the Allotment early this morning feeling unwell. So members that have come up today or Planning to take a stroll over tomorrow for there Kings Seeds I won’t be on site until Monday now.I will have to sort another collection date next week.

Dear Members

We have now got in stock a number of rat bait stations which members can have on request. These have been purchased using Allotment funds, we will also supply rat poison on request when needed. Any member wanting one for their plot can you come and see me on site, there will be a disclaimer to sign, you will receive a data sheet regarding the safe use of rat poison. The rats will not perish in the bait stations, they will take the poison and perish somewhere else.

Plot Members Orders Have Arrived

Plot members that placed an order for Kings Seeds, the orders have arrived. I will be opening the stores Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th November 9am – 11am  to distribute orders to members

Can I urge members to collect their orders on these dates & times please.

Seed Appeal

Dear Gardeners

If you have any seeds you know longer want full packets or part packets The Lemon Tree Trust want our help. They send the unwanted seeds to support families living in refugee & IDP camps during the Covid – 19 crisis. Growing food & flowers at home gives people hope, & seeds are in short supply. Lucy Moore approached me on plot 37N & explained to me about the seed appeal. I thought what a fantastic idea we as gardeners usually always have unwanted seeds,  & to send them to other countries for them to grow there own vegetables & flowers it occurred to me that our site would want to help. There is a poster on both entrance gates, if you have any seeds you want to donate please give them to Mark Burton or Lucy/Richard on plot 37 N.

Dear members

The stores shop is now closed over winter. However when I am on site I can open the stores if anybody has any requirements. When the King Seeds orders arrive I will create a blog when members can collect there orders.

Kings seeds orders are now being processed at there warehouse, so we should receive them in a couple of weeks.I will inform members when they arrive so you can pick them up on site. Also I have ordered seed potatoes as per members order form requests. We should receive our stock in the middle of February next year.
