Plot holder Profile
Mark Burton Plot 14 -Profile

“I originally helped my Dad on his allotment plot for about 2 years
so I had some knowledge of planting and growing vegetables from seed.

Sadly my Dad passed away so I had a decision to make. My Dad started
his plot in 1998 and was Chairman along the way so I thought it would be a good to follow in his footsteps. So I joined the Committee,.

Everybody made me so welcome and it helps me emotionally deal with the loss of my dad.

I am now on the committee playing
an important part helping with plot letting and stores .It’s really great being involved
in a community based project like Old Lane Allotment Association.”

Patronising Radio 4 Documentary

At a time when we have the most famous Allotment holder hoping to become our next Prime Minister (the newsletter author has £20 on him at 7/1) here is a largely patronizing view of allotments tinged with racist comments.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01ng89n – Alan Dein visits a Hastings allotment and finds that a plot of land means a lot more to people than a place to grow vegetables. He joins various allotmenteers as they tend their plots.
